Case Study
Lab Sterilization Room
A large national manufacturer of sterilized equipment needed to relocate five Ethylene Oxide sterilizers from another location and accommodate them at their already existing facility. The client needed to maintain the building at a constant room temperature and ventilation and take into account adding more sterilizers and a dry reactor system in the future.

A U.S.-based luxury home furnishings manufacturer needed to accommodate the growing demand for their products. Their production facility in Vietnam was no longer able to keep up with the growth and they wanted to design a larger facility in the same general area as their current facility.

Abbott Power Plant - University of Illinois
After installation of new feedwater pumps and piping at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's (UIUC) Abbott Power Plant, UIUC noticed significant vibration problems and pump operating issues. Additionally, no drawings or design details had been provided for the installation and, therefore, staff was uncertain about where to start identifying the source of the problem.

Topographic Survey
A large global private client needed to keep up with increasing product demand at one of their facilities by adding on to existing buildings. However, the existing facility was congested and contained multiple underground utilities. These utilities and other existing conditions needed to be carefully understood and considered when planning for the new construction.

Air Handling Unit Replacement
A public sector higher education client in the Illinois Capital Development Board portfolio had various air handling units (AHUs) that were original to the building and beyond their anticipated service life. The client needed to replace these units because they were experiencing operational issues and were no longer reliable. Additionally, they were noisy, suffered from capacity reductions, and, in some cases, used double the amount of outside air than permitted by current code requirements.

Village Hall AHU Replacement
A municipal client's village hall had been served by five Carrier roof top units (RTUs) since the building was built in 2003. These RTUs provided heating, cooling, and air conditioning to each floor of the village hall. However, because of a roof design that caused the area to reach very hot temperatures, the RTUs would overheat in the cooling season causing premature HVAC failures and they needed to be replaced.

HVAC and Roof Replacement
A public sector correctional facility client in the Illinois Capital Development Board portfolio had been experiencing various issues with its heating and cooling systems that were affecting the temperature regulation of both housing and communal spaces. Various systems, including the air handling units (AHUs), chillers, cooling towers, and boiler were past their anticipated service life and experiencing maintenance issues. The facility needed these issues addressed immediately considering they were housing people around the clock.
