Roof Top Solar Energy - PV Design
Challenge:
An international manufacturer of automotive components needed a plan for the installation of solar panels on the roof of their plant as a part of their sustainability plan. Prior to installation, various engineering services were required to properly layout the project, while technical support was needed to complete the installation prior to and during construction.
Solution:
Valdes started by evaluating the existing power systems at each facility, including the existing power systems, inverters, meters and combiner boxes. There were various reviews conducted as a part of the preparation, including locations of photovoltaic (PV) panels, installation for compliance with NEC 2014, mechanical completion and substantial completion. Valdes performed the detailed engineering and design for electrical systems and developed electrical single line and wiring diagrams.
Impact:
The solar panels were successfully installed on the roof of the manufacturing plant and started to impact the overall energy consumption for the manufacturer, positively contributing to their sustainability plan.
