Upgrade & Replacement of Dietary Equipment

Challenge

The Stateville Correctional Center sought to update the NRC Dietary building as part of their new programmatic requirements.

Solution

Valdes Architecture & Engineering was selected to design the complete renovation of the NRC Dietary facility. Food service equipment within the dietary area that was designed as part of the client agency's new programmatic requirements included: dish machine, sinks, exhaust hoods, kettles, braising pans, stainless steel tables, coolers / freezers, heated pass-thru, hot / cold well tables and a six-well salad bar. In addition, the Dietary's roofing system was replaced, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems servicing the Dietary area, were also repaired or replaced.

Impact

Because several areas and components of the facility’s dietary equipment were not functional, the facility struggled to conduct efficient meal preparation for the residents. With the renovated facility, staff can efficiently and safely prepare meals for the resident population.
