Challenge

A general contractor was on a tight schedule to complete an as-built survey at a junior high school in order to submit record drawings and verify that construction of new improvements was accurate to the engineering design. It was critical to expedite the close out of the project so that the school could return to normal activities and prepare for the upcoming school year.

Solution

Valdes survey staff completed the following steps to provide accurate information on a prompt timeline: -Performed detailed research of design drawings and data to “dial in” to survey coordinates and elevations once on site. - Coordinated field work with the client to ensure survey staff would not interfere with operations at the site. - Imported survey information to Civil 3D to produce a clear/concise deliverable displaying the post-construction conditions of the site. - Met with the client to review survey results and note any discrepancies between design and existing information.

Impact

Valdes’ efforts resulted in an efficient process upon the completion of construction ensuring that the client could close out the project. The drawing deliverable was delivered in two business days after the completion of fieldwork.
