Phase II Highway Design

Challenge

Valdes Architecture & Engineering (Valdes) is proud to lead the Phase II engineering services for a series of roadway improvement projects in the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) Region Two, District Three. This initiative aims to enhance the safety, efficiency, and overall quality of the roadways in this region.

Solution

he services include HMA (hot mix asphalt) surface removal with an HMA-designed overlay, pavement markings, and traffic control. Work may also include ADA ramps, drainage studies, pavement patching, ditch cleaning, minor structure repairs, HMA safety shoulders, curb and gutter repairs, and guardrail removal and replacement. Seven projects are planned across LaSalle, Bureau, Livingston, and Ford Counties.

Impact

Valdes collaborated with established District Three engineering firms to combine large-project capabilities with local experience. This diverse team brings proven success in District Three, proactive communication, and a commitment to DBE participation, delivering efficient and high-quality design deliverables on schedule. Our approach includes advanced 3D modeling, early stakeholder coordination, and rigorous QA/QC. We utilize a detailed project management strategy with defined milestones and progress tracking. With our strong understanding of IDOT policies, innovative design tools, and commitment to responsiveness, Valdes provides value through precision, accountability, and technical excellence. These improvements support IDOT’s objective to maintain and upgrade key corridors in District Three.
