Relocation of Electrical & Fiber Optic Lines to Underground

Challenge

This project involved the comprehensive relocation of all above-ground low voltage and high voltage electrical lines, as well as fiber optic cables, to underground installations.

Solution

In addition to the relocation of the electrical and fiber optic cables, the project included repairs, replacements, and upgrades to the electrical and fiber optic lines and for the repair or replacement of electrical breaker boxes in the buildings as needed. Valdes Architecture & Engineering (Valdes) will also be working with the utility to determine if any components of the project are eligible for a utility company or other energy grant/rebate. If so, Valdes will prepare and submit the grant application if the project qualifies for the rebate.

Impact

This initiative aimed to enhance the safety, reliability, and aesthetic appeal of the area by removing the current overhead infrastructure. Additionally, the relocation will help mitigate weather-related disruptions, reduce maintenance costs, and improve overall system efficiency for the long term.
