Challenge

Our client is interested in developing a site in Chicago for a new enclosed sports facility.

Solution

The client plans to construct a pre-engineered metal building that will be connected to a renovated existing masonry structure located at the east end of the property. The facility will serve as a sports complex, featuring basketball, volleyball, and pickleball courts for public use. Currently, the site is vacant, consisting mostly of a concrete slab, except for a small, single-story brick masonry building on the eastern side. The existing building is intended to be renovated to include locker rooms, restroom facilities, and potentially a bar or food service area.

Valdes Architecture & Engineering has prepared conceptual design documents for submission to the City of Chicago for zoning review. The project is currently under review by the zoning board, and once it receives approval, it will advance to the schematic design phase.

Impact

Valdes ensured that the design is thoughtful and aligned with the City of Chicago's zoning requirements, setting a strong foundation for a successful and well-integrated project.
