Utility Generating Station – Reverse Osmosis System
Challenge
A utility client has a combustion turbine peaking plant that uses reverse osmosis (RO) water for exhaust gas emission controls. The plant was designed for RO rental trucks and a fixed system was later leased with supplemental RO supplied by truck when required. The leased system became obsolete and was scheduled for removal. The client needed to replace the leased system with a permanent RO system.
Solution
Valdes Architecture & Engineering (Valdes) executed a study to specify the RO equipment and create a total installed cost estimate. These deliverables were utilized to create the project justification and receive capital project approval. Valdes conducted a bid event and selected the appropriate equipment to satisfy their requirements. Valdes also developed the detailed design for the installation and managed all aspects of the project from conception through commissioning of the new system.
Impact
Valdes was the single point of contact and sole accountability for project development, design, installation, and commissioning. Valdes utilized internal subject matter experts to ensure the success of the project.
